Project - Bathrooms

Having an Interior Designer for a client can be intimidating. But with challenge comes opportunity and with an exacting client come a chance to excel. The client was a new homeowner and as often happens, the first order of business was to tackle a list of repairs and minor alterations. Combine two small walk in closets into one efficient space. Remove an unusable exterior door and seamlessly close the opening. Repair neglected exterior siding ahead of the painters. After this it was time to get to the larger work. One by one the two bathrooms were gutted and rebuilt. Disrupting the normal operation of the household as little as possible was a key, even though one requirement was to remove and replace all the existing plumbing lines. A vintage tub was retained and a new guest bathroom was built around it reflecting timeless grace and detail. The client’s dream of a main bathroom with a spa shower was fulfilled after careful reorganization of space where every square inch was used to best advantage. Closets were moved, walls closed and original moldings meticulously reused to make the final result seem as if it had always just so. Virtually evey room was touched whether it was to replace out of character 60’s crown moldings, change light fixtures, or replace obtrusive free-standing radiators with space creating recessed radiators. The final touch was the addition of a large bluestone patio to maximize this homes living space.
